Saints Softball Captures LIS Title

St. Catherine’s beat Trinity to win the championship.
     Saints softball beat Trinity 8-5 to win the LIS title. It was the first time the Saints captured the softball titles since 2012.
     Coach Karin Trice was named LIS Co-Coach of the Year. Freshman Kinnady Branch was named LIS Player of the Year. Sophomore Brianna Henry, freshman Izzy Viruet and eighth grader Day Vetter were named All-LIS. 
     In the championship game, Branch was 3 for 4 with a triple two RBI and three runs. Vetter was also 3 for 4 with a triple, one RBI and two runs. Junior Alice Kottkamp was 2 for 3 with a run and Henry was 2 for 3 with two RBI.
     The Saints lost to Potomac in the state semifinals the next week. Branch, Vetter and Viruet were all named first-team all-state while Henry earned second-team honors.
