Students Receive Computer Science Awards
Four Upper Schoolers were honored by the National Council for Women in Technology.
Four St. Catherine’s Upper Schoolers were recently honored by the National Council for Women in Technology (NCWIT). Senior Sophie Schubmehl and freshman Campbell Taylor received Rising Star awards while junior Emma Dixon and sophomore Anna Jane Reed received honorable mention awards.
The four were elected from more than 3,300 applicants representing all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S. overseas military bases and Canada.
Award recipients are selected based on "their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and plans for post-secondary education."
The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing High School Award “honors 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, or non-binary students for their computing-related interests and achievements and encourages
them to pursue their passions.”
